Do puzzle mats work.
Puzzle mats are one of those ideas that sound great in theory but don t work very well in practice.
They are usually constructed of foam you might have heard of jigsaw foam mats or different types of woven fabric.
And of course a flat mat is portable as well but you often can t carry these vertically.
I just slide the board under.
It was made of felt so the pieces didn t move at all.
It can be laid out on the floor or dining room table then when you re done working on it for the day it can be rolled up and put away for later.
You would not want to leave too many loose pieces around the edges in this case though.
In my experience it does a good job at keeping the puzzle intact and sticked on but when it came to rolling it up and storing it it felt a bit flimsy.
I happen to use them myself on my puzzle table.
Would it be possible to get some sort of large piece of cardboard or poster board and simply slip in under a table or bed.
Then the board folds up leaving your puzzle and pieces undisturbed.
The only problem with the puzzle mats affiliate link you purchase is that you are limited in the size of puzzle you can build on them.
It s actually a board.
On the other hand roll up models require more time and effort when you re putting your puzzle away whereas a flat mat usually zips closed in a flash.
A puzzle mat is the perfect solution.
Puzzle mats that roll up tend to be more popular simply because they are compact and highly portable.
Can you help us make mumsnet better.
Jigsaw puzzle table leg raisers are becoming quite common among puzzlers who spend many hours doing jigsaw puzzles.
The only thing was that a big jigsaw got slightly pushed in on itself as it rolled but it wasn t hard to straighten it all out when you unrolled it.
I had one years ago and it worked well.
